Frequently Asked Questions

01.Is the Screen Recorder free to use?

Yes, it is completely free with no sign up and no install. You can record your screen as often as you like, right in your browser.

02.What can I capture with this recorder?

You can capture your full screen, one window, or one browser tab. Your browser shows a picker when you press Start Capture, and you choose what to share.

03.Does it work on a phone?

No. Mobile browsers do not support screen capture, so it will not work on phones. Use it on desktop Chrome, Edge or Firefox on the live https site only.

04.Does it record audio too?

It tries to capture audio as well. If you share without audio, the recording is video only, and the status line says so. Tab audio depends on what your browser offers in the picker.

05.What file format do I download?

You download a WebM file named recording.webm. WebM plays in Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Keep the tab open until you download, or the recording is lost.

06.Is my screen recording uploaded to a server?

No. Capture and playback happen in your browser on your own device, so your screen never leaves your computer.

If you only need audio, try the Voice Recorder to record your voice in your browser.
