Decode JSON Web Tokens instantly - header, payload and expiry, in your browser.

BotixTech's free JWT decoder lets you inspect any JSON Web Token in seconds. Paste the token and instantly see its header, payload and signature, with expiry checks and human-readable dates.

Decoding is done 100% in your browser with no server involved, so the token never leaves your device. Perfect for debugging auth flows during development.

How to Decode a JWT

  1. Paste your token - the full header.payload.signature string.
  2. Read the panels - header and payload appear as formatted JSON.
  3. Check the expiry badge - green means valid, red means expired.
  4. Try the sample - click Use sample token to see the format.

Frequently Asked Questions

01.What is a JWT?

A JSON Web Token is a compact, URL-safe token with three parts: a header, a payload of claims, and a signature, separated by dots. Servers issue them to prove who you are without storing sessions.

02.Is it safe to paste my token here?

Decoding happens entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded. Still, as a rule, avoid pasting live production secrets or user tokens into any online tool.

03.Can this tool verify the signature?

No. Signature verification needs the secret key, which must stay on your server. This decoder reads the token's contents; it does not prove the token is genuine.

04.What do iat and exp mean?

iat (issued at) is when the token was created and exp (expiration) is when it stops being valid. Both are Unix timestamps, shown here as readable dates.
