Binary to Hex Converter

Enter a binary value and get its exact hex value, grouped in fours for easy checking.

Your result appears here.

Binary digits only (0 and 1). The leftmost group is padded with zeros to 4 bits. Conversion runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

Binary is base 2, and hex is base 16. Because 16 is 2 to the power of 4, every hex digit matches exactly 4 binary bits, which makes binary to hex conversion a simple grouping job. The Binary to Hex Converter does that grouping for you.

It also shows the padded groups, so you can see exactly how each group became its hex digit.

How to Use This Tool

  1. Enter your binary value: type 0s and 1s only, with an optional 0b prefix.
  2. Click Convert: the hex result appears instantly.
  3. Check the steps: read the padded groups under the result.
  4. Copy the result: click Copy and paste it into your code or notes.

The Method

Group the bits in fours, starting from the right. If the leftmost group has fewer than 4 bits, pad it on the left with zeros. Convert each group of 4 bits to its hex digit, where 1010 is A, 1011 is B, 1100 is C, 1101 is D, 1110 is E, and 1111 is F. Read the hex digits from left to right.

Worked Examples

  1. 101101 to hex. Pad on the left to 00101101. Groups are 0010 and 1101, which become 2 and D. Result: 2D.
  2. 11111111 to hex. Groups are 1111 and 1111, which become F and F. Result: FF.
  3. 1010 to hex. One group, 1010, becomes A. Result: A.
  4. 11010111 to hex. Groups are 1101 and 0111, which become D and 7. Result: D7.

Why Use This Tool

Frequently Asked Questions

01.Is the Binary to Hex Converter free to use?

Yes, it is completely free with no sign up and no limits. You can convert as many binary values as you like.

02.Can I include the 0b prefix?

Yes. You can enter a binary value with or without the 0b prefix, for example 0b1010 or 1010, and both give A.

03.What happens if my binary value is not a multiple of 4 bits?

The tool pads the leftmost group with zeros until it has 4 bits. Padding on the left does not change the value, and the grouping working is shown.

04.Does it handle very long binary values?

Yes. The converter uses BigInt arithmetic, so very long binary values convert exactly, with no rounding.

05.What is the reverse direction?

Hex to binary is the reverse direction. You can also go from binary to decimal with the Binary to Decimal Converter.

06.Is my value uploaded to a server?

No. All conversion happens in your browser on your own device, so your values never leave your computer.
