Enter a binary value and get its exact decimal value, with the place value working shown.

Your result appears here.

Binary digits only (0 and 1). Whole numbers only. Conversion runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

Binary is base 2, the number system computers use, and decimal is the base 10 system we count with. The Binary to Decimal Converter turns a binary value into its everyday decimal number.

This is the reverse direction of the existing Decimal to Binary Converter. It does not replace that tool. It simply lets you convert the other way, from binary back to decimal.

How to Use This Tool

  1. Enter your binary value: type 0s and 1s only, with an optional 0b prefix.
  2. Click Convert: the decimal result appears instantly.
  3. Check the steps: read the place value working under the result.
  4. Copy the result: click Copy and paste it into your code or notes.

The Formula

Take each bit, from right to left, starting at position 0. Multiply the bit by 2 to the power of its position, then add all the results. Bits that are 0 add nothing.

Worked Examples

  1. 1101 to decimal. 1 times 8 is 8, plus 1 times 4 is 4, plus 0 times 2 is 0, plus 1 times 1 is 1. 8 plus 4 plus 0 plus 1 is 13.
  2. 1010 to decimal. 1 times 8 is 8, plus 0 times 4 is 0, plus 1 times 2 is 2, plus 0 times 1 is 0. 8 plus 0 plus 2 plus 0 is 10.
  3. 11111111 to decimal. The place values are 128, 64, 32, 16, 8, 4, 2, and 1, and all bits are 1, so the sum is 255.
  4. 10000000 to decimal. Only the leftmost bit is 1, in the 128 place, so the result is 128.

Why Use This Tool

Frequently Asked Questions

01.Is the Binary to Decimal Converter free to use?

Yes, it is completely free with no sign up and no limits. You can convert as many binary values as you like.

02.Can I include the 0b prefix?

Yes. You can enter a binary value with or without the 0b prefix, for example 0b1101 or 1101, and both give 13.

03.How is this different from the Decimal to Binary Converter?

This tool is the reverse direction. The Decimal to Binary Converter turns a decimal number into binary, and this tool turns binary back into decimal. It does not replace that tool.

04.Does it handle very long binary values?

Yes. The converter uses BigInt arithmetic, so very long binary values convert exactly, with no rounding.

05.Can I convert binary fractions?

No. This tool converts whole binary numbers only. A binary point or any other character gives a clear error message.

06.Is my value uploaded to a server?

No. All conversion happens in your browser on your own device, so your values never leave your computer.
